Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the discovery of charred human skeletal remains in Dambulla on June 18.
The human remains were found inside an agriculture well in a secluded area at Ihala Arawwala. They had been burned using tyres.
Police stated that the three suspects connected to the crime were taken into custody yesterday (29) by the Matale Division Crime Investigation Unit from Mapitigama, Gokarella and Opanayaka areas. A tipper vehicle and motorbike allegedly used to commit the crime have also been taken into custody.
The arrested suspects are aged 21 to 40 years. Police Media Unit identified the victim as a 43-year-old resident of Moragahahena, Millewa. Investigations have uncovered that one of the suspects, who was having an affair with the victim's wife, had committed the murder, police added.
The suspects were produced before the Dambulla Magistrate where they were ordered to be held in detention for further questioning.
