Three suspects were arrested and detained yesterday (Jun 02) in connection with the killing of a doctor and the theft of his possessions in Kotahena last month, Police said.
The suspects were arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division over the killing which had taken place on May 22. The doctor was identified as Suresh Kumar Brito, a resident of Bloemendhal Street, Kotahena.
According to the Police, the three suspects alleged to have been involved in the killing and theft of some belongings of the doctor have been identified as those between the ages of 16, 17, and 20.
The suspects are residents of Kotahena, and Dematagoda, police noted.
They are being questioned upon a 24-hour detention order which was obtained after they were produced before the Magistrates Court in Colombo yesterday.
Meanwhile, a laptop, a phone, a wrist watch, three bottles of foreign liquor, a cheque book, a bottle of perfume, a pair of slippers, and a cash wallet were discovered among the stolen items belonging to the doctor.
