Three faculties at the state university of Ruhuna will be re-opened tomorrow (Jul 17), after clashes between students and non-academic staffers forced the university to shut down last week.
Accordingly, the faculty of science, faculty of fisheries, marine sciences and technology, and the faculty of grauate studies, will re-open for academic sessions tomorrow, University Vice Chancellor Senior Professor Sujeewa Amarasena said.
The university had been closed indefinitely since July 10 after a brawl left a dozen people including 10 students and two employees injured.
Meanwhile, non-academic staffers at the university have resigned from their positions following the incident while security too has been tightened within the premises.
