Three fire related incidents have been reported from Dharmapuram, Puttalam, and Mavarala since yesterday (Dec 31) morning.
A fire was reported to have broken between 7 - 7: 50 am at a branch of the Bank of Ceylon thereby destorying several appliances in the building including two computers and three air compressor machines in the building.
The fire was doused by the Police along with the residents of Dharmapuram.
Meanwhile, a building belonging to the Puttalam Municipal Council in which fuel was stored, was reported to have caught fire at 11 am yesterday.
Police and tri-forces personnel along with the staff of the Municipal council and the residents of the area managed to contain the fire. However, the reasons for any of the fires have not been determined as of yet.
Another fire related incident was reported from Mavarala between 12:30 - 1:30 am at a shop which sells vehicle spare parts.
Police Spokesman, SP Ruwan Gunasekara said no casualties were reported due to the fire although the building and the equipment in the shop suffered extensive damages. The value of the damages have not been determined as of yet.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that the fire was a result of an electrical shortage. Police are conducting further investigations into this regard.
