The three-member committee appointed by Justice Minister Wijeyadasa Rajapakshe to investigate the Welikada Prison riot in November 2012, handed over its report to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday. The Committee headed by High Court Judge Wimal Nambuwasam handed over the report which contains their findings to the Prime Minister at the latter’s office in the Parliamentary Complex, in the presence of Minister Rajapakshe, the Justice Ministry in a communique said. The other members of the committee are retired DIG Asoka Wijethilleke and retired Administrative Officer Attorney S. K. Liyanage. Minister Rajapakshe appointed the committee to probe the incident on January 23 this year, after the new government assumed office.
