Tipper driver who knocked down police officers arrested
Police have arrested the driver of the tipper vehicle that ran over a group of police personnel at a road block in Hakmana last night, killing a constable and seriously injuring two sergeants.
Police Media Unit stated that the suspect driver was taken into custody from Ranala in Hungama this afternoon. Earlier, police found the tipper vehicle involved in the incident abandoned at Ranna.
Police identified the suspect as a 34-year-old resident of Lunama, Ambalantota. He is due to be produced before the Matara Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
