Election monitor Transparency International Sri Lanka (TISL) says it has received around 79 complaints on election law violations and violence, in the run-up to the upcoming presidential election.
Among them, 59 had been verified, TISL said, outlining that the highest number of complaints were on the usage of state buildings for election campaigning purposes.
Eleven complaints were based on granting "incentives or equipment with political objectives".
TISL said that, among some key complaints were the issuance of, back-dated appointments given to trainees at People's Bank - Nattandiya Branch on October 7.
Another incident was the issuance of loans worth Rs 1 million each to a group of Samurdhi officers at the Social Empowerment Ministry.
In addition, a complaint had also been filed at the Election Commission against a cabinet minister who had attempted to issue government appointments to some 100 persons in Anuradhapura.
