The Tamil Nadu government has proposed to hold the next round of talks between fishermen of India and Sri Lanka in Chennai on March 5, according to a report by the Hindu
The State government, in a letter to the Ministry of External Affairs,sought clearance for the talks, the report said.
S. Vijayakumar, Animal Husbandry, Dairying and Fisheries Secretary, said the talks were to reiterate the rights of the fishermen in Palk Bay irrespective of any artificially drawn boundaries.
The talks would also suggest ways for fishing in the traditional waters of Palk Bay on convenient and agreeable terms, the report said.
