The Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentary Group has decided to hand over the post of Opposition Whip to the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), a statement from the TNA said. “Accordingly, Leader of the Opposition and TNA Leader Hon. R. Sampanthan proposed to the Speaker that JVP MP Hon. Anura Kumara Dissanayake be appointed as Opposition Whip. The TNA Parliamentary Group also decided that in the absence of Hon. Sampanthan, President of the Ilankai Thamil Arasu Kadchi (ITAK) Hon. Mavai Senathirajah would act as Leader of the Opposition.”
