Two lanes of traffic near the Kelaniya bridge from Kandy towards Colombo have been temporarily restricted to one lane from 6.00 am today (Dec 17) due to construction work, the Director General of the Road Development Authority (RDA).
Entry along this lane will be restricted today owing to a rehearsal with the Police for a traffic plan.
The entry of vehicles will be restricted to one of the lanes from Dec 19 - 21 for construction work after identifying shortcomings.
While light vehicles and buses could use the Peliyagoda interchange of the Colombo-Katunayake expressway as an alternative route towards Colombo from December 17 to ease the traffic congestion, containers and lorries could use the Colombo-Negombo (A03) road as an alternative route, the Director General said.
