A train accident was averted at Gintota, near Galle, this morning by the drivers of two trains. Two trains one headed from COlombo to Galle and the other from Galle to Colombo nearly collided.
The drivers managed to stop the trains which came on opposite directions on the same track, merely 10m from each other.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
