A train transporting coal has derailed near the China Harbour area in Trincomalee,local media reported. Owing to this a train which was scheduled to depart at 11.20 a.m. from Trincomalee to Galoya has been delayed until 3.00 p.m.
The railway control room said that steps are currently being taken to restore train services along the line at the earliest.
A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
