Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara has clarified that the transfer of the OIC attached to the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) was purely based on service requirements.
The OIC of the CCD was serving in the same position for five consecutive years, Mr. Gunasekara said adding that the OIC has now been transferred to the Police Headquarters.
He emphasised that the transfer is not due to any other reason although attempts are being made to link the transfer to several other incidents in the recent past.
The OIC who was attached to the Mirihana Police Investigations Unit has been transferred to fill the vacancy, he added.
