Transportation along the Hatton Bogawantalawa Road was hampered yesterday (Nov 14) after an earth embankment collapsed onto the road, police said.
Traffic had been limited to one lane after mounds of earth blocked the road at around 4 pm.
Police believe that the earth embankment had collapsed due to a leaking water pipe that had caused the soil to erode from a slope.
Road Development Authority officials had been notified to clear the area after the incident.
