Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) to hold annual convention in Colombo next month

The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) is planning to host its Annual Convention in Sri Lanka in November a statement from the Tourism Development Ministry said.

More than 400 industry leaders and media delegates are expected to attend the annual sessions scheduled to be held from November 11-13 in Colombo. 

The Convention is being held on the invitation of  Tourism Development Minister John Amaratunga to the Indian Travel Agents in the aftermath of the April tragedy, the statement said.

Further,  the statement quoted TAAI President - Sunil Kumar as saying the Managing Committee of the association at a meeting on September 30 in Hyderabad agreed and approved holding the convention in Sri Lanka as an expression of solidarity.

The Hotels Association of Sri Lanka, CCHTA and Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators have welcomed the convention being held in Sri Lanka.

Led by Sri Lanka Convention Bureau, both the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau are working together to provide the necessary support for a successful convention.

India is Sri Lanka’s largest tourism source market at present, the statement said.
