Six individuals have been arrested in Udubaddawa area in Dummalasuriya for allegedly excavating for treasure last evening, police reports. The suspects, who are residents of Udubaddawa, Nikaweratiya and Welipenna areas, have been arrested excavating in a privately owned land with the intention of finding ancient artifacts. A three wheeler, cab and a motorcycle has also been taken in to custody. The suspects and the recovered items will be produced before the Kuliyapitiya Magistrate today.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
