Trishaw meets fiery end following accident

A three-wheeler that had allegedly been driven at high speed had been completely destroyed after it burst into flames following an accident at Pudukulam in Vavuniya yesterday. Witnesses said the driver had lost control of the vehicle, resulting it going off the road and toppling into a culvert, where it burst into flames. 

It is suspected that a petrol leak from the three-wheeler had triggered the fire. Though area residents tried to douse the flames, they had all but consumed the vehicle by the time they arrived. 

The three-wheeler driver, who was injured, was admitted to the Vavuniya hospital. Vavuniya police are investigating.
