Private tution classes will be banned on Sundays and on Poya Days in areas under the purview of the Beruwala Divisional Secretariat.
This decision was taken during the Beruwala Divisional Coordinating Committee meeting chaired by Minister Rajitha Senaratne on March 17.
During the meeting, Mr. Senaratne pointed out that the Maha Sangha had complained of a decline in Daham Pasal education since students attend tution classes on Sundays as well as on Poya Days.
Further, he had vested the responsibility of supervising the implementation of the ban to the Police and the Beruwala Divisional Secretariat.
