Sri Lanka Coast Guard along with navy arrested 29 Indian fishermen in two separate incidents yesterday for engaging poaching in Lankan waters, navy said in a statement.
Nine fishermen along with one trawler North of Thalai-mannar and three Indian fishing trawlers with twenty Indian fishermen North-west of Kudiremalai Point were arrested. The arrested fishermen along with the fishing vessels were handed over to the officials of the Department of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources of Thalai-mannar and Kalpitiya Police for further action.
