Twenty spill gates of the Thabbowa Tank have been opened due to the prevailing adverse weather, the Disaster Management Center (DMC).
The DMC has warned those living in downstream areas at Mee Oya are advised to temporarily relocate to safer locations.
Meanwhile, the Madur Oya reservoir in Polonnaruwa is also at spill levels. Spill gates will be opened in the next few hours, the DMC warned.
