Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the assault of three persons in the Nuriyawatte area in Deraniyagala today (Nov 16).
Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said the victims had been attacked after being questioned as to whom they had cast their vote during the presidential election.
The victims, identified as residents of Nuriyawatte between the ages of 21 and 36 had been admitted to the the Deraniyagala Hospital. One individual hadbeen transferred to the Karawanella hospital for further treatment.
Police said the suspects were of ages 17 and 34. They are due to be produced before the Avissawella Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
