Two arrested over attack on police in Jaffna

Two suspects, aged 20 and 23 years, have been arrested by police this morning over the attack which injured two policemen at Kondavil in Kopay on July 30. 

The 20-year-old suspect, a resident of Nallur, was arrested by a team from the Jaffna police while the 23-year-old suspect, a resident of Manipai, was arrested by the Kopay police. 

The suspects are due to be produed before the Jaffna Magistrate's Court today. 

The two police officers sustained injuries after they were attacked with sharp weapons by a gang of individuals who arrived on motorbikes. The injured officers were admitted to the Jaffna Teaching Hospital for treatment.
