Two arrested over Gampaha shooting

Two suspects who had allegedly aided and abetted the shooting of an individual at Kehelbeddara in Gampaha have been arrested by the Peliyagoda Crimes Division. 

An individual was shot and killed by gunmen who arrived on a motorbike at Kehelbeddara in Gampaha on February 6. Police said the suspects had allegedly aided and abetted those who carried out the shooting. They were arrested on a tip-off in a raid conducted at Dippitiyagoda in Kelaniya yesterday (19). 

The motorbike used to carry out the shooting was also taken into custody during the raid. The suspects have been handed over to Gampaha Police. 

The suspects, aged 23 and 30 years, are residents of Dippitiyagoda. They are due to be produced before the Gampaha Magistrate's Court today. Gampaha Police are investigating.
