Two former LTTE personnel have been sentenced to 25 years of rigorous imprisonment over the killing of eight army soldiers at the Wilpattu National Park during the war.
The order was issued by the North-Central Province High Court when the case was taken up for hearing today (Jan 22).
It is reported that the accused had pleaded guilty to five charges out of nine which were filed by the Attorney General.
The incident is said to have taken place on March 09, 2007 when Army personnel visited the National Park on an inspection tour.
Colonel Jayantha Suraweera of the Gajaba Regiment and seven others were killed in the incident.
