Transportation activites have been hampered along the Hatton - Nuwara Eliya main road due to a tree which had been uprooted at around 5 am today (Nov 22).
The tree, believed to be over 200 years old, is said to have been uprooted due to strong winds that were experienced in the area.
Area residents along with the Talawakkala and Linthulai police are currently engaged in an effort to clear the tree that has been obstructing the road.
Officials of the Linthulai Electricity Board are currently taking measures to restore power supply which was hampered due to the incident in the area.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
