Two in custody over discovery of hand grenades

A man and a woman were arrested by the Special Task Force (STF) with hand grandes, detonators and live ammunition on Tuesday (23) during a raid conducted at a property in Moragoda, Thalawa. Two live hand grenades were among the explosives that were seized, police said.

The raid was conducted by STF officers from the Anuradhapura STF camp following a tip-off. Among the items recovered from the property were 21 electric detonators, two live hand grenades, 17 rounds of live ammunition and two 'Rambo' Knives. 

A 38-year-old women on whose property where the items were found was taken into custody, along with a 29-year-old man. They are both  handed over to the Thalawa Police.
