Two persons including the Eastern Province leader of the proscribed Jamathe Millathu Ibrahim group have been arrested today (Aug 3), police said.
According to the police, the provincial leader of the banned group has been identified as 25-year old M.Naushad Umar, a resident of Valaichchenai.
Meanwhile, the other suspect - an Oluvil university student, has been identified as M.I Mohamed Salman, a 25-year old resident of Anuradhapura. He is accused of propogating extremist ideologies at the university.
Police are conducting further investigations into the suspects.
