Two persons including the Mayor of Dambulla have been arrested for organizing a bicycle race in the area failing to adhere government regulations of not to organize any public gatherings or events that would attract people, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said today. Both are to be produced before courts shortly.
Earlier, the government announced that all leisure trips, pilgrimages and tours have been banned with immediate effect. The move has been taken as part of measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the country.
