Two persons including a member of the Wennappuwa Pradeshiya Sabha have been remanded until August 30 for obstructing the duties of police officers yesterday (Aug 20).
The order was issued when the suspects had been produced before the Marawila Magistrate's court today, police said.
According to the police, the Pradeshiya Sabha member along with her father and sister had obstructed the duties of police officers who had pulled over their sister on a motorcycle at a roadblock.
Police noted that the woman had been travelling without a valid license.
Accordingly, the court had remanded Chamodhari Fernando, 23 - the Pradeshiya Sabha member, and her sister Dulanjanee Fernando over the case, while releasing their father Ashok Kumar Fernando on a surety bail of Rs 300,000.
Another sister aged 16 had also been produced to Court, police said.
