Two persons including a teenager have died after being knocked down by a train in Kilinochchi last night.
It is reported that the victims were knocked down by a train travelling from Jaffna to Colombo, when they had attempted to leave the railway line upon noticing the approaching train.
The victims have been identified as 18-year old Selvaraja Sajeepan, a resident of Mullaitivu, and 28-year old Anandasami Nilavan, a resident of Jaffna.
The remains of the victims had been handed over to the Kilinochchi Railway Station by the train which was involved in the accident.
A post-mortem examination is due to be carried out today on their remains which lie at the Kilinochchi hospital.
