Two individuals who were arrested over controversial statements made at a media briefing conducted by former Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne regarding purported “white vans”, have been remanded until Dec 27.
The Colombo Chief Magistrate issued the order when the two individuals were presented before court today (Dec 16).
Previously the CID had commenced investigations into two indiciduals who addressed a media briefing conducted by former Health Minister Senaratne in early November.
One of the individuals had alleged that he was a “white van” driver involved in abducting people while the other claimed he once served as a driver to transport a stock of gold in previously LTTE-held areas.
On December 02, the CID presented a submission before Colombo Chief Magistrate Lanka Jayaratne regarding the media briefing.
