Two persons have been arrested for attempting to extort ransom after kidnapping a bus driver in Kotahena, police said.
The arrest had been carried out by Colombo Crimes Division officers at around 5:30 pm yesterday (Jul 7). Two three-wheelers and a mobile phone that had been used in the kidnapping were recovered by the police.
The suspects have been identified as 32-year old M.N. Mohamed Jalaldeen and 31-year old M.A. Abdul Rahman. They are residents of Kolonnawa, and Colombo 12.
Police are due to produce the suspects before the Colombo Magistrate's court today.
