Two persons, including a 12-year-old child were killed and another 50 persons injured in an accident this morning at Navula, Nalanda in Matale police said.
A private bus carring pilgrims to Adams Peak from Dambulla collided head-on with a private bus heading to Batticaloa from Kandy.. A container lorry had then collided with the back of the private bus.
The injured persons were admitted to Matale, Dambulla, and Nalanda hospitals.
The 12-year-old child was killed on the spot while another woman died in hospital. Several of those injured were also reported to be in serious condition.
