Two persons were killed while three children of the same family were injured after a three-wheeler toppled 100 feet off a precipice in Nuwara Eliya this afternoon.
The deceased have been identified as a couple by the names of D.B. Rupasinghe, 50, and Rohini Kumari, 45. Their children aged six, 16, and 19, who sustained injuries, are receiving treatment at the Nuwara Eliya district hospital.
The family has been identified as residents of Walapane.
It is believed that the victims had been travelling towards Nuwara Eliya from the Elamulla area along the Udapussalawa road at the time of the accident. The three-wheel had been driven by the father, police said.
