Two persons along with approximately 12 kilos of Kerala Cannabis worth Rs.3.3 million have been taken in to custody early this morning (8), police said.
Acting on a tip-off received by the Puttalam Headquarter Police, the stock was found buried in a plot of land in the Madurankuliya Kadayamatta area in the Mundala police division following a raid conducted at about 4.15 am today.
The police believe that this stock is part of a larger stock smuggled from India to Kalpitiya via sea and would have been hidden to be distributed to various other areas.
Under the instructions of Superintendent in charge of Puttalam Division, J.P.S. Jayamaha and with the guidance of Police Headquarters Inspector P. Kumaradasa, investigations are being carried out by OIC, Inspector Pathirana along with constables Kumara and Subasinha.
