Two suspects were arrested with heroin worth Rs 20 million off Point Pedro yesterday (Feb 27).
Officers attached to the Northern Naval Command had seized the narcotic after having inspected a suspicious dinghy heading towards Sri Lanka.
The contraband weighed 86.4 kilograms.
Navy officials said that the heroin which was found to have been concealed in two parcels is suspected to have been smuggled from India.
The dinghy and the heroin which were seized by the Navy at the time of the arrest have been handed over to the Kankasanthurai Police along with the suspects for further legal action.
