Two persons belonging to two proscribed extremist groups have been arrested by the Police in Ampara today (Aug 27).
The arrest had been carried out upon information received by the State Intelligence Service.
One of the suspects identified as M.R. Abdul Rahuman alias 'Abu Anas', a resident of Polgolla, had received training at a training camp in Nuwara Eliya, police said.
The other suspect, Z.A. Hasla alias 'Abu Rawa', a resident of Mawanella, had received training in Hambantota.
According to the police, the suspects belong to the National Thowheed Jamath and Jamathei Millathu Ibrahim groups.
