Two youths who were arrested for posing atop a chaitya at the Mihintale Viharaya have been remanded until Feb 27.
The remand order was issued by Anuradhapura Chief Magistrate and Additional District Judge J. Prasanna Samarasinge who also rejected a bail application filed on behalf of the suspects.
Meanwhile, court also ordered the OIC Chief Inspector of the Mihintale Police to produce a report on the investigations being carried out into the incident.
The suspects have been identified as 18-year old Jalaldeen Rizni Ahamed a resident of Muttur and 20-year old Razik Mohamed Jiffry.
They were identified as students of a private college in Thihariya.
