The University Grants Commission (UGC) has introduced a dedicated hot-line to complain about ragging incidents at universities and other higher educational institutions. The hot line is - 011-2123700, which would be open 24 hours a day, for students to make complaints.
The university students are also urged to lodge complaints with respective police stations about ragging incidents in the mean time. If found guilty, persons will be subjected to term of 10 years in prison as punishment.
However, a Online Complaints Mechanism, was set up as a means for any member of the university community to lodge a complaint regarding incidents of ragging, harassment, intimidation and bullying earlier. All complaints that are lodged will be investigated and victims of such incidents will be offered support and redress, according to UGC officials.
