The University Grants Commission (UGC) said that the next intake of students for the new academic year will be increased by ten percentage.
UGC Chairman Prof. Mohan de Silva said, 27,603 students will be enrolled for various undergraduate courses conducted at 15 universities and 18 higher educational institutions for the new academic year. “Last year the figure was 25,200 and therefore this is an increase of 10%,” he said.
Meanwhile the Commission will issue applications for recruiting new undergraduates for the next academic year from April 24. Students who passed the Advanced Level Examinations held in August last year and qualified are eligible to apply.
