UNP and TNA back motion to abolish executive presidency

Both the UNP and the TNA have backed the JVP's motion to abolish the executive presidency.

Both the UNP and the TNA have backed the JVP's motion to abolish the executive presidency. 

MPs from the two parties stated this while speaking during the adjournment debate on the JVP's motion in Parliament today. 

The UNP's official Twitter account also published a tweet requesting all other parties in Parliament to support the executive presidency. The tweet read "The United National Party requests the rest of Parliament to support the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna's motion to abolish the Executive Presidency."
