The United National Party (UNP) is demanding that the Government take steps to end the fertilizer shortage in the country and to refrain from carrying out acts of political revenge.
Addressing a media briefing at Sirikotha today (9) UNP MP Palitha Range Bandara demanded that the Government take steps to look into the pressing issues faced by the people.
The MP said farmers were being severely inconvenienced due to the prevailing fertilizer shortage in the country.
He noted that soon after coming to power, the previous Yahapalana Government reduced fuel prices and also increased the salaries of Government servants. By contrast, the present Government has done little except arrest UNP MPs, he remarked.
Regarding the issue of UNP MP Ranjan Ramanayake's leaked phone recordings, Mr Range Bandara said the UNP's parliamentary group was meeting later this evening and the matter will likely be discussed there.
