The United National Party (UNP) has appointed a committee comprising senior cabinet ministers Thalatha Athukorala, Akila Viraj Kariyawasam, Kabir Hashim to hold disciplinary inquiry on Vijayakala Maheswaran who resigned from his State Ministerial post yesterday.
The move came amid the uproar created over her controversial comments at a function in Jaffna earlier in the week where she stated that a return of the LTTE was necessary if Tamil people were to live freely.
