The UNP led alliance to contest the upcoming Parliamentary elections will be finalised by Thursday, party General Secretary Akila Viraj Kariyawasam said today.
He said they hope to launch the alliance after nominating names to positions in the alliance by Thursday.
The move amids reports that six of the names nominated for the General Secretary position by the Sajith Premadasa faction have not been accepted by party leader Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Last Thursday, the Working Committee of the UNP resolved to empower Opposition Leader Premadasa to nominate the General Secretary position.
