The United National Party (UNP) is being governed by its leader Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and not an external force, non-cabinet minster Sujeewa Senasinghe said yesterday (Feb 18).
"We had problems regarding the leadership of Ranil Wickremesinghe. But he is still our leader,” he told reporters during a media conference at the Ministry of Ministry of Science, Technology & Research.
He made these remarks while responding to journalists who drew reference to President Maithripala Sirisena's address at the 22nd anniversary of the Peoples United Front during which he claimed that the UNP was being manipulated by external forces.
Speaking further, non-cabinet minister Senasinghe said that the Sri Lanka Freedom party might be controlled by certain external groups.
