UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe has said that the UNP protest at Galle Face scheduled for Dec 13 will be held following the Supreme Court verdict.
Delivering an address at Temple Trees, he said that his party expected the verdict to be delivered on either today or tomorrow.
"However, our lawyers told us that the verdict would be delivered on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday" Mr. Wickremesinghe further added.
Accordingly, the UNP leader said as such that the protest march will be held along with the support of civil society groups following the Supreme Court verdict.
Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
