Two individuals among the seven suspects involved in the recent hit and run incident who were to be remanded until tomorrow owing to a failure to meet bail requirements have now been released a short while ago.
Among the two suspects who were subsequently released included the son of Parliamentarian Mahindananda Aluthgamage. The remaining five who failed to meet their bail requirements have been remanded until tomorrow (Feb 26).
A total of eight suspects were produced before Additional Magistrate Isuru Nethikumara over their involvement in a hit and run incident which left a traffic OIC in critical condition.
The driver of the defender jeep, Kavidu Udesh Ratnayake has been remanded until March 11 while the other 7 suspects were ordered to be released on two surety bails of Rs 500,000 each.
The media and the general public were barred from witnessing the court proceedings since court had conducted a closed trial on the case.
