Parliamentarians representing the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) have decided to vote against the second reading of the budget which will take place this evening.
The decision was made during a parliamentary group meeting earlier today, MP Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena said.
Meanwhile, the Janatha Vimukthi Peramnuna (JVP) has also decided to vote against the budget, JVP MP (Dr.) Nalinda Jayatissa told reporters yesterday (Mar 11).
The Tamil National Alliance is yet to announced its stance concerning the vote. However, MP Mavai Senathirajaha had said that his party would also vote against the second reading if the issues pertaining to the people in the North and East are not addressed.
The second reading of the budget is expected to be taken up for a vote at 5 pm following six days of debate today.
