The Speakers Office speaking to the Times Online confirms that the UPFA has tendered its resignation.
Meanwhile, General Secretary of the SLFP Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa said the UPFA had decided to appoint Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.
