Extending congratulatory wishes on behalf of the US Governement for Sri Lanka's national Day, US State Secretary, Michael Pompeo said that the US remains eager to strengthen its relationship with Sri Lanka.
On the same note, he said that the US government hopes to advance shared interests in the Indo-Pacific region based on our common democratic values.
"Sri Lanka's democratic institutions and constitutional processes have ensured your country's continued advancement" Mr. Pompeo said.
Further, he said that the US government looks forward to working together to deepen ties between the two states in order to promote shared prosperity, and secure a stable and peaceful future.

On behalf of the Government of the United States of America, I extend to Sri Lanka very warm wishes as you commemorate your national day.
The United States remains eager to build on our partnership with Sri Lanka and advance shared interests in the Indo-Pacific region based on our common democratic values. Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa is due to vacate his official residence at Wijerama Mawatha, Colombo this morning, a Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) source said.
The Presidents’ Entitlements (Repeal) Bill was passed by a majority of 150 in parliament today. However the opposition MP’s were absent during the voting.
